The Consortium is effecting change through community education, advocacy, and the provision of resources to advance the development and preservation of housing that is affordable, accessible, and free of discrimination. Because everyone deserves a place to call home.
All residents of Tacoma-Pierce County have access to decent, safe, and affordable housing, free of unlawful discrimination and free of the effects of past exclusionary housing policies and practices.
We are working to improve the environment for low-income housing production by:
1. Enhancing the capacity of affordable housing developers;
2. Providing an information network for the affordable housing community;
3. Educating the public about affordable housing issues; AND,
4. Undoing the effects in the housing markets of long-standing racially exclusionary policies and practices and creating equitable opportunities for all to have decent and affordable housing and asset building through homeownership.
Housing is a human right.
We are committed to the provision of decent, safe, affordable housing for all, without regard to unlawful discrimination, and free of the effects of past discriminatory policies and practices in the housing market.
Affordable and available housing is necessary for nearly every other civic interest: economic development, employment, education, child welfare, health, public health, transportation, land use, growth management, environmental protection, racial justice, and social justice.
Collaboration among communities and development partners - efficiently using resources - is required to preserve and expand housing.
