  • About Us

The University of East Anglia (UEA) ranks in the top 200 of the world's universities and the top 30 of the universities in the UK. Known for world leading teaching and research as well as a commitment to interdisciplinary study, the University offers over 300 undergraduate and postgraduate courses across four faculties: Arts and Humanities, Science, Social Sciences, and Medical and Health Sciences. In addition, the University is a leading member of the Norwich Research Park, one of Europe's largest concentrations of researchers in the fields of environment, health and plant science. The Research Excellence Framework 2021 (REF2021) has classified 91 per cent of the University’s research as ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’. The result also puts UEA in the top 20 of Times Higher Education's (THE's) overall ranking table for REF2021, moving up from 23rd in the previous REF in 2014, to 20th.

The University, located on 362 acres of rolling parkland just two miles from the centre of the medieval city of Norwich in the United Kingdom, boasts modern state-of-the-art facilities such as the world famous Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts. The Sportspark, housing an Olympic sized swimming pool, climbing wall, and gymnastics centre, is one of the the biggest indoor sports centres in Britain. Norwich has an impressive literary heritage and is the first English city to be named a UNESCO City of Literature. The University hosts an International Literary Festival that has attracted famous names such as Ian McEwan and Kazuo Ishiguro, both alumni of the University's Creative Writing course.

The University has over 16,000 students representing 100 different countries. One of the factors that makes our students, both past and present, so happy here is the range of activities and amenities the University offers. The Union of UEA Students offers 60 sports clubs and over 200 societies as well as hundreds of volunteering opportunities and two live music venues, one on campus and one in the city centre. Students coming from outside of the region are guaranteed housing (terms and conditions apply), and a range of on-campus accommodation options are available.
