The Conservative Synagogue (TCS) is a
vibrant community dedicated
to communal care for each other and the world, spiritual growth through prayer
and learning, and the continuity of Jewish life.
We are home to 430 member families
and educate nearly 300 children in our religious school and preschool. In
addition to serving the needs of our congregants, we embody our commitment to tikkun
olam – healing the world – through volunteering with local groups,
community-wide, large scale Mitzvah Days, and more.
Upon founding TCS in 1987, a handful of pioneering families turned
a dream into reality. In donated office space above an ice cream shop on Bay
Street, “B’nei Baskin Robbins” made history as the first and only Conservative
shul in Westport. The synagogue soon outgrew the space, and in 1995, TCS built
the community’s permanent home on Hillspoint Road. Since then, TCS has nearly
doubled in size and become established as a leader in the community. As we look
ahead, we are exploring new ways to ensure our synagogue’s continued vibrancy
as we embrace the many changes in our world. Now and always, we strive to be a
welcoming, inclusive, and innovative community that carries on our culture’s
tradition.
