About Us
The Romare Bearden Foundation was established in 1990 as a not-for-profit corporation by the Estate of Romare Bearden to honor the legacy of the renowned artist. The Foundation's mission is to promote the visual arts, to encourage and foster the education and development of aspiring young artists, to perpetuate Romare Bearden's artistic legacy and to increase public awareness and appreciation of the arts. The Foundation realizes it's mission by providing support to talented art students,to art programs that nurture the creativity of young children, cultural institutions that aid deserving artists and to the scholarly research and presevation of Bearden's work.
