About Us
The 1City Youth Project (formerly known as BASIC), is a ten-month, New York not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) youth program now celebrating 19 years of service. We are dedicated to providing academic excellence, personal, social and spiritual development for our students. It is our goal to expose our youth to a vast cultural and artistic awareness that will enhance their self-esteem, motivation and personal identity through the teaching of authenic historical heritage. It is also our mission to assist each student in reaching his/her full potential of being productive citizens in a changing world. The Program, its parents, the churches, the schools and the community united in this process will develop youth empowered with excellence, which will firmly establish a new generation of leaders.
