The mission of Rhawnhurst Turning Point is to provide a center for 6-12th grade youth where they can learn, grow, serve and have fun in a safe environment, supported by caring volunteers and Christian Staff.
Rhawnhurst Turning Point is a community non-profit that serves 6-12th
grade youth to help them grow in every aspect of their lives: academically,
artistically, relationally, socially and spiritually.
To do this we offer Homework Help and Drop-In times Tuesdays, Wednesdays and
Thursdays from 2:30-9 pm, small group art classes in the evenings during the
school year, a Christian weekend program that includes times of fellowship,
fun, and learning, a Service Saturday program allowing youth to make a
difference in their community through service, a Summer program, special events
and much more.
All of our programs are offered completely free of charge to all 6-12th
grade youth without discrimination.
Rhawnhurst Turning Point began out of a joint idea and mission venture
between Redemption Lutheran and Rhawnhurst Presbyterian Churches in Northeast
Philadelphia in 2007. After much research and planning, we opened as a
separate 501c3 non-profit in a storefront in our community on October 25,
2011. Since then, we have worked with almost 250 who have visited our
center over 5,500 times. We have a group of amazing volunteers that work
with our youth, building relationships, helping with homework, teaching art
classes, paying games, watching movies, serving side by side, and simply
providing healthy relationships with caring adults that will encourage and
strengthen the youth whom we serve. We have one full-time Executive
Director, and one part-time Weekend Program Manager.
