  • About Us

    The World Food Prize Foundation’s fundamental goal is to seek to ensure that there will be an adequate supply and availability of nutritious food for the burgeoning world population in the 21st century.

    It seeks to achieve this crucial objective through three basic activities aimed at increasing awareness of the problems involved in reaching this goal and encouraging durable solutions. These actions are:

    • Recognition – of exceptional breakthrough achievements by presentation of the $250,000 World Food Prize each year to an individual whose actions, policies or scientific research have produced a demonstrated impact on food security and improvement in the lives of people;
    • Inspiration – to those working in the fields of food research and production and poverty eradication to achieve similar accomplishments, by disseminating information about The Prize and past Laureates; and
    • Education – about the issues involved in ensuring food security in the 21st century through the holding of the World Food Prize International Symposia, conducting other World Food Prize events and assessment missions around the globe, and holding the World Food Prize Youth Institute and International Internship program.
