    The "Dora Stratou" Theater is the official goverment-sponsored organization for Greek folk dance, since 1953. Its activities include: a) A 75 member ensemble of dancers, musicians and singers. b) a 900 seat theater opposite the Acropolis of Athens, where performances are given daily. c) Dance classes every day, workshops and lectures every week, teacher training programs. d) Research programs, invloving mostly fieldwork and bibliographical search, in the ethnography, sociology and history of dance. e) Publications including large series of books, CDs, video cassettes etc. f) Training programs in folk musical instruments, folk embroidery, cultural management etc.
