The Partnership for the Future of Learning protects, strengthens, and advances public education equity and meaningful learning—and supports the policies and practices that get us there.

The Partnership is one of the few spaces where youth and family-led organizations, educators, communicators, researchers, funders, systems and union leaders, and policy professionals sit side-by-side. We offer a vision of U.S. public education responsive to widely shared values that recognize that each and every child, family, and community member deserves to feel a sense of belonging in well-supported public schools that cultivate the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary for young people to build meaningful and rewarding lives. We ignite collaboration, bridge divides, amplify diverse perspectives, and build sustained relationships necessary to protect and remodel public education. Our position as a powerful, self-governed social impact network allows us to span geographic scales and connect short term efforts with long term, multi-decade change strategies.

As political and ideological assaults on public education persist, the need for a robust, well-coordinated response continues to grow. In response to this need, we undertook a field-wide study of how organizations and our partners were responding. The resulting 2023 Breakthrough Report informs our strategies to align our vision, policy priorities, narrative coherence, and work to amplify already-strong field efforts. This role is designed to help us powerfully advance this work.

We provide central field infrastructure that connects over 800 established and emerging education leaders—enabling them to share resources, coordinate efforts, and collectively address the pressing issues facing public education today. Since our inception, the Partnership has placed field alignment at the core of our mission and our network practice, viewing it as a guiding principle to supporting communities working to advance education equity, promote meaningful learning, and replenish democracy.
