  • About Us

Kitezh Children's Community is a place of happiness & joyful refuge for abandoned & orphaned children in the Kaluga Region of Russia. Volunteers from all over the world teach English to the children and join in the daily life of the community. Since 1992 it has functioned as a non-profit Partnership of Foster Families who offer homes and education to orphans in this rural ecovillage. At present there are 30 children living there. There are 90 hectares of agricultural land with areas of wild forest and a lake nearby. They have built 14 houses, a school, a community centre, a church and a farm with cows, poultry, bees and vegetable gardens. A second village, Orion is being built on the model of Kitezh. Contact Ecologia Youth Trust for details of how to visit and volunteer at Kitezh or for any other information.
