Chelsea Legal Services, Inc.

Founded in 2020, Chelsea Legal Services, Inc. (CLS) is the first and only Chelsea-based grassroots legal services agency established to provide legal services to the disenfranchised, economically disadvantaged, disabled and elderly residents living within the city of Chelsea, Massachusetts regardless of income level or immigration status. Our attorneys are as diverse as the population we serve. We are bilingual and bi-cultural, speaking English and Spanish. We have partnered with volunteer attorneys who can offer legal assistance in French, Russian, Portuguese, and Haitian Creole.

CLS has joined with the City of Chelsea, residents, and community-based organizations to address the devastating impact of Covid-19 on the already vulnerable families living in Chelsea by providing legal representation, legal education and advocacy.

CLS mans pop-up legal clinics at one of the primary food pantries in the City twice every week, so that residents receive on-the-spot immediate and meaningful legal assistance. CLS in partnership with local community-based non-profit organizations will provide ongoing informational sessions for tenants and landlords alike, with the hopes of providing proactive mediation/resolution to cases prior to court proceedings being filed.

CLS has coordinated with the Chelsea District Court to provide a “Housing Court Attorney” on those days housing matters are before the Court.

A 501(c)(3) organization, we are funded through grants and donations. The organization is supported by a team of volunteers and part-time attorneys who are all committed to helping the residents of Chelsea, MA. Our mission is clear…We are here to promote equal access to legal justice for all!
