  • About Us

The Mid-Kansas Community Action Program, Inc. is a community-based, non-profit organization that helps people move out of poverty. We do this by 1) Providing programs and services focused on expanding community housing options, education, employment and economic mobility, family development, and support services; 2) Actively engaging community members, businesses and social service organizations in anti-poverty collaborations; 3) Continuously improving the accountability and capacity of our organization to pursue our mission of “Helping People, Changing Lives”.  The service delivery area is nineteen counties in South Central Kansas; the administrative office is located in Augusta, Kansas (fifteen minutes from Wichita, Kansas).

Mid-Kansas CAP has resources available to help the homeless off the streets, or to keep families from ending up there in the first place. Our efforts include providing rent and utility assistance as part of our Higher Achievement Together, our case management program.  Case management is a collaborative process. We assess, implement, monitor, and evaluate plans to help each individual and family meet the goal of self- reliance. Mid-KS CAP’s work is characterized by advocacy, communication, and resource management that promotes personal accountability. Case management services in the Higher Achievement Together (HAT) program are designed to use the appropriate funding streams to address services for the individual or family to remove obstacles and solve problems that block the achievement of self-reliance.

he Mid-Kansas Community Action Program is committed to providing quality housing options, and to that end manages, or owns, 24 units in the South Central Kansas region, including those that fall under the banner of operating as a Community Housing Development Organization.
