Earthwatch is an international non-profit organisation which supports scientific field research by placing paying volunteers in the field to work with scientists and scholars. Our mission is to improve human understanding of the planet, the diversity of its inhabitants and the processes that affect the quality of life on Earth.
Earthwatch works through a unique system of participant funding whereby volunteers pay to join a scientific research expedition of their choice. This provides scientists and researchers with much needed funds and people to help them with their field work. Equally important, it enables people to learn, have first hand experience of fascinating research and to make a direct contribution to solving global problems.
Through a number of fully sponsored fellowship programmes, secondary and tertiary students, teachers and company employees, are given the unique opportunity to experience hands-on scientific field research and to contribute to increasing our understanding of our world.
