About Us
We believe that as environmental problems become increasingly urgent and increasingly complex, solving them is going to take far more people actively engaged and involved in the decisions that affect our energy use, the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the places we love.
Environment Maine is an organizing and advocacy nonprofit that works with its 22,000 citizen members to solve the climate crisis, transition Maine to renewable energy, expand the local foods movement, and protect Maine’s treasured places. We are strategists and organizers. We’re good at figuring out the best policy to make progress toward solving a particular problem given the political lay of the land and our long-term vision, and we have the experience and know-how to bring people together to make it a reality.
