  • About Us

    MISSION: To increase student academic achievement in Washington & Yamhill County K-12 public schools. The AmeriCorps team improves academic achievement through tutoring, mentoring, extended school day activities, parent involvement programs and volunteer generation.

    OBJECTIVES: AmeriCorps members serve full-time for 11 months in Washington County schools to:

    • provide tutoring and mentoring activities to low-achieving and at-risk students with a special emphasis on literacy and math;
    • recruit, train, and coordinate new parent/community volunteers;
    • provide outreach to parents of low-achieving and at-risk students;
    • develop, implement and staff extended school-day activities, particularly those that combine recreation, academic enrichment and tutorial activities.
