In 2014 Will Guzzardi, a progressive Democrat, ran and won a grassroots campaign to unseat machine-backed State Representative Toni Berrios. Will was inaugurated just this past January and spent his first term fighting for less standardized testing, protections for all workers, and equal rights for women, LGBTQ folks and people of color. He took on the prison industrial complex by championing legislation that will help young people get out of the system sooner and moved a massive overhaul on police training & accountability through legislature.
