About Us
The Prison Yoga Project (PYP) is a nonprofit organization, fiscally sponsored by the Give Back Yoga Foundation. PYP’s mission, quite simply, is to bring yoga into every prison around the world. PYP believes in the transformative power of yoga as a methodology for healing and processing trauma, and therefore seeks to make yoga accessible to as many traumatized and under-resourced male and female incarcerated and at-risk populations as possible. PYP advocates for making prisons centers for rehabilitation rather than retribution, and have collected data that shows providing programs for healing and rehabilitation in prisons positively affects individual. PYP accomplishes this mission through a Yoga Manual Donation Program, teacher trainings, and program delivery collaborations.
