The Mindfulness in Law Society (MILS) is an exciting 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization that helps alleviate suffering by teaching important mindfulness skills to lawyers, law students, judges and others in the legal community all over the world with an intention to improve the overall legal system. Through its initiatives, which include virtual meditation sits, local and regional chapters, conferences and retreats, MILS helps people improve their ability to focus and concentrate, manage stress and other emotions, increase their self-awareness, and accept others openly, compassionately, and authentically.
MILS not only promotes and supports mindfulness, it conducts its own meetings and initiatives mindfully. Diversity, equity and inclusion are among its core values and MILS currently participates in an initiative collaborating with the National Black Law Students Association to advance mindfulness. MILS seeks to nurture similar alliances with other organizations representing diverse or underrepresented populations.
