Alliance for Technology Access (ATA)

The mission of the ATA is to increase the use of technology by children and adults with disabilities and functional limitations. ATA encourages and facilitates the empowerment of people with disabilities to participate fully in their communities. Through public education, information and referral, capacity building in community organizations, and advocacy/policy efforts, the ATA enables millions of people to live, learn, work, define their futures, and achieve their dreams.

The ATA is a diverse network of AT Centers, Community-based organizations, companies, and individuals committed to closing the educational, economic, and social gaps that exist for the majority of people with disabilities.

The Alliance for Technology Access operates in accordance with the following principles:

• People with disabilities have the right to maximum independence and participation in all environments, without barriers.
• Technology can be harnessed to diminish or eliminate environmental barriers for people with disabilities.
• People with disabilities have the right to control and direct their own choices, and the right to access the information they need in order to make informed decisions according to their goals and interests.
• People with disabilities have the right to employ assistive technologies, strategies for implementation, and necessary training support to maximize their independence and productivity.
