  • About Us

The Bucks County Opportunity Council connects people with resources to thrive. Our mission is to help low-income families in Bucks County achieve and maintain economic self-sufficiency. We believe equipping people with the education, training, resources and skills necessary to permanently leave poverty is far more beneficial than helping them cope in poverty. We serve 8,100 people and support 27 food pantries that distribute 463,000 meals annually. We offer free tax preparation for low-income families and saved Bucks County residents $10.5 million value in returns, tax credits and filling fees over the last eight years.

Our nationally recognized Economic Self-Sufficiency Program helps hard-working, motivated people gain the education, skills, and resources to thrive without any future need for welfare assistance. Since the 1990's, 244 people have permanently left poverty. This program saves the community more than $4 of welfare subsidies for every $1 invested.

We believe that a community thrives best because all of its members thrive. Our work is a collaboration of partnerships with caring community members, businesses and friends.
