  • About Us

Afya Public Charter School serves grades 6-8 in the Belair-Edison neighborhood of Baltimore with about 100 students in each grade. Afya means health in Swahili. We believe that students in the middle grades need regular opportunities to think critically, be physically active, and interact constructively with peers. As they participate in this kind of work and play, our students will create and learn habits of mind and body that will lead to their intellectual, physical, social, and emotional health.
