Speech&Debate Academy

Mission statement: Speech&Debate Academy aims to help educate students on the principles, processes, and activities within speech and debate for little to no charge. We are dedicated to promoting the spread of speech and debate within different schools and communities. Whether as a mechanism to learn communication or to achieve competition-readiness, Speech&Debate Academy hopes to broaden access to this activity. We also employ debate as a mechanism for teaching English through advanced language comprehension and unique interactive methods.

We have a truly international focus for our mission. Right now, we work to teach English to students in China and Ukraine, with our tutors hailing from the US, Dubai, Malaysia, and India. We have collaborated with other nonprofits, including ENGin and Huishuo English.

Our online education system is composed of both synchronous and asynchronous components, all for free. Synchronous courses include live Zoom sessions to learn a particular speech or debate event, either in a group or individually. This applies to native speakers as well as English learners. Our asynchronous courses are self-guided online programs designed to teach participants several events, including parliamentary debate, limited and pre-prepared speech events, and more.

The Speech&Debate Academy nonprofit was founded by high school students, for high school students in 2022. Our goal is to give more people access to the world of speech and debate by having those experienced in the activity teach new students at little to no cost.
