    The Lieber Institute, also known as The Lieber Institute for Brain Development, is a non-profit research institute dedicated to performing research regarding the causes, prevention, and treatment of schizophrenia and related psychiatric disorders, developing novel treatments by probing early brain development for the origins of mental illness. The institute is a unique public-private partnership born of scientific and financial collaborations between the National Institutes of Health, private philanthropy and select academic institutions, industry and biotechnology. The institute is dedicated to the goal of developing new treatments, diagnostic tests and original insights into the etiology of behavioral disorders stemming from abnormalities in human brain development.
