  • About Us

The Urbanist was founded in 2014 as a Seattle-based online publication seeking to examine and influence urban policies. We believe that cities provide unique opportunities for addressing the most difficult problems we face. Our website serves as a resource for sharing ideas, creating community, and improving the places we live.

We understand urbanism and transportation advocacy has often been a White male dominated space, including at our own organization, and we are intentionally working to center underrepresented communities, elevate new voices, and support the liberation of Black, Indigenous, and people of color.
