  • About Us

The Overwatch Project is an initiative of FORGE, which is the only national nonprofit that is exclusively focused on working from within the firearms community on transformative, non-political initiatives to end gun suicide and gun homicide. The Overwatch Project is FORGE’s flagship program and is a military and veteran suicide prevention initiative. The Overwatch Project is coming at suicide prevention from a new direction, using an approach that helped solve another complex problem: drunk driving. The Overwatch Project is building the equivalent of the “Friends Don’t Let Friends Drive Drunk” campaign for veterans and service members, only instead of talking about alcohol and vehicles, we are focused on guns and suicide. Through this evidence-based initiative, we save lives by transforming the conversation about firearms and suicide prevention through a comprehensive peer-intervention program that includes direct training and community engagement crafted in a blunt, authentic voice. We expect to train 10,000+ veterans and service members in 2023, and reach tens of thousands more through outreach and communications campaigns.
