The Akshaya Patra Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation feeding millions of underserved children in India. It works to eliminate hunger and malnutrition among children by implementing its school lunch programme in Government schools and Government-aided schools. Carrying out the world’s largest feeding programme, Akshaya Patra aims to not only fight hunger but also bring children to school.
In Telangana, Akshaya Patra has a centralised kitchen in the capital city Hyderabad, reaching out to 62,020 children in 463 schools. This kitchen was launched in October 2008.
The Foundation launched its kitchen in Narsingi on August 2017. It currently reaches out to 7,400 children in 98 schools.
The Foundation has it's upcoming kitchen in Khandi (being built with support from Infosys).
The cost of feeding a child for a whole year, thanks to Government subsidy and provision of food grains, is merely Rs 950. Donate now to support children’s education!
