Southeast Chicago Chamber of Commerce

  • About Us

SCCC’s mission is to provide responsive, robust business development assistance to small businesses, foster neighborhood engagement and drive economic development so that CHAP and its surrounding areas are recognized as places "where commerce meets community."

The Southeast Chicago Chamber of Commerce is a full-service, one-stop-shop for small business development assistance and economic development in the Calumet Heights, Avalon Park, and Greater Grand Crossing areas, which are included in the South Shore region of Invest South/West initiative by Mayor Lightfoot. It is also a Special Service Area (50).

Founded in 1981, SCCC has almost 40 years of experience providing business development support to the South Shore area serving primarily African-American and Latinx business owners and offering individualized guidance to help them adapt to changing needs and technologies over time.

SCCC’s primary program provides counseling through its Chamber Clinics, directly reaching approximately 400 business owners each year. SCCC also hosts 15+ business development workshops annually that focus on access to capital, financial management, technology, and legal matters.

In 2019, SCCC hosted engaging, innovative business development and community events including five ribbon-cutting ceremonies, two mural creation placemaking events, a Community Gems Tour, a Halloween Safe Treats Trail with 20 or more local businesses, and more.
