  • About Us

    St. James Immigrant Assistance offers sponsorship of refugee families, ESL instruction to individuals, assistance with preparing and applying for citizenship, civics instruction, community involvement, and help connecting to community resources. Our clients are adult, mostly low-income, immigrants and refugees in the City of Seattle and King County, Washington region.

    Client Services

    ESL Tutoring: Enrollment is open to any low-income, adult, refugee or immigrant who wants to improve their English. Tutoring is free and takes place at our offices and other community locations.

    Citizenship Tutoring: Enrollment is open to low-income, adult, refugees or immigrants who want help preparing for their naturalization interview. Citizenship Tutoring takes place at our offices and other community locations.

    Naturalization Assistance: We help immigrants to complete their N400 citizenship application, and gather all the other necessary documents to file their application. We work to ensure clients have everything they need to become a U.S. citizen, such as legal representation. This service is free to low-income clients by appointment at our office on First Hill.

    Refugee Family Sponsorship: Our refugee welcome and inclusion team provides a wide variety of support to sponsored refugee families including airport arrival, temporary housing, rental assistance, neighborhood orientation and tours, connection to local services, and help finding housing, jobs, enrolling in heath care, applying for cash and food assistance, etc. Our legal staff help with immigration benefits.
