AmeriCorps and Children Together

  • About Us

The AmeriCorps and Children Together (ACT) program partners with childcare centers of North Carolina in an effort to enhance the quality of childcare for all young children, birth to age five.

Members of the ACT program serve as assistant teachers in early childhood classrooms, thereby giving each child a chance to be the healthy, happy person they deserve to be.

Members develop important leadership skills by regularly volunteering with non-profit organizations, recruiting volunteers, participating in National Service Days, and organizing trainings for the entire ACT team.

ACT is one of 15 AmeriCorps programs in NC. AmeriCorps is a National Service program, often described as a domestic version of Peace Corps.
