  • About Us

Project CETI (Cetacean Translation Initiative), a newly-formed nonprofit organization and TED Audacious Project, is applying advanced machine learning and state-of-the-art robotics to listen to and translate the communication of whales. Founded and led by a team of scientists, this trans-disciplinary initiative is bringing together leading cryptographers, roboticists, linguists, AI experts, technologists and marine scientists to connect to whales.

Project CETI’s flagship community-based leadership program, Whale Advocacy & Education (WAVE), is training young marine scientists/leaders in Dominica. Through principles of science, outreach, and leadership, local participants in Dominica are immersed in a 10-month curriculum that incorporates engaging lessons about conservation, research/analysis, and storytelling.
