Vision: Hope in Every Individual.
Purpose and Mission: Since its founding in 1990, the HOUSE OF HOPE has offered a safe, family-centered
“home” to mothers with children, who are committed to overcoming crisis and forging a life of self-reliance.
Approximately 80% of these mothers have experienced terrible family violence. Our mission is to offer them
a structured environent, resources, and support services that enable them to find stability, build self-
esteem and confidence, safely care for their children, and find the motivation and strength to set personal
goals and action plans.
Program: Providing help, hope, and healing to unsheltered families in our community.
• We serve families from throughout the greater-Seattle area. The HOUSE OF HOPE is the only full-time,
year-round shelter for families in the Snoqualmie Valley.
• We are a low-barrier shelter, which means that we serve some of the hardest to place families
in our community. Many of the families we serve come into the program from sleeping on the
streets, directly from substance abuse treatment, jail and/or prison, and with significant health
and mental health issues.
The HOUSE of HOPE works individually with each family to provide them with a structured program of
case management and services focused on providing skills and tools to securing long-term housing,
while addressing the barriers which make keeping housing difficult.
• Families are connected with our partner social service organizations for domestic violence support,
addiction recovery services, parenting workshops, job readiness courses, personal finances classes,
developmental screenings for children, counseling, and support groups.
Aftercare Program: Once a family has long-term housing, we work with our partner individuals and
organizations to furnish the family’s new home. Families voluntarily enroll in our Aftercare Program,
which allows us to keep them engaged in a system of support, and to follow them for several years post-
graduation. This helps to ensure the family’s success, and to provide a safety net so they don’t fall back
into homelessness.
