  • About Us

Elmy’s Special Services, Inc. is a community-based organization in New York City established in 2002 that aims to enhance the quality of life for individuals diagnosed with disabilities and provide support for their families. The organization was formed by a group of informed professionals who seek to support immigrant families in low socio-economic communities who were generally underserved because of cultural and linguistic barriers.

ESS is funded by the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), the Department of Health ( DOH), the Office of Mental Health (OMH) and the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS). At the heart of our success lie the vital partnerships among our core group of stakeholders who are the center of our service delivery system.

Since our inception, we have administered various programs to support and promote the independence, dignity, and functioning of children in their natural environment and ensure that they live meaningful and fulfilling lives among family and friends. Our services provide opportunities for social and intellectual engagement, such as education, therapeutic activities, and community acceptance in safe, inclusive, and conducive environments.

At Elmy’s Special Services, Inc., we believe that every person, at every age and level of ability, has growth potential. We believe that they deserve to receive services in their community regardless of race, creed, or sexual orientation and that each of them is entitled to the same dignity, respect, and opportunities as all other members of society.

We are firmly committed to helping each people we serve, and we strive hard to nurture these individuals by providing comprehensive and individualized services to help achieve their maximum potential for independence, individuality, productivity, and inclusion in their communities.
