    Position Title: H2DI Operations Intern or Fellow

    Reports to: H2DI Executive Director

    Position Status: Nonexempt, temporary

    Type: Full-time or Part-Time

    Salary:

    The salary for the Operations Intern position is $20/hr. EFIF offers Internships to individuals who are currently pursuing an undergraduate degree or have recently graduated.

    The salary for the Operations Fellow position is $27/hr. EFIF offers Fellowships to individuals who are pursuing or have recently completed an advanced degree (post-undergraduate).

    EFI was founded by Ernest J. Moniz, who served as the thirteenth United States Secretary of Energy (2013-2017) during the Obama Administration. Former Secretary Moniz also serves as the co-chair of the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) and holds a position at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Former Secretary Moniz and other principals of EFIF also are principals of EJM Associates, LLC, a Washington-based business consultancy.

    About the Hydrogen Demand Initiative (H2DI)

    The Hydrogen Demand Initiative (H2DI) is a consortium tasked with helping accelerate commercial liftoff of the clean hydrogen economy and support the launch of the Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs. The consortium is led by EFIF and will design and implement demand-side support mechanisms for unlocking the market potential of the H2Hubs. Once finalized, the team will also develop an operational plan for administering these mechanisms.

    Summary:

    The Operations Intern/Fellow will play a key role in ensuring the smooth functioning of H2DI’s operations. This position will primarily support the Executive Director’s calendaring and logistics needs, including both scheduling meetings and representing H2DI at meetings. The Operations Intern/Fellow will also assist with special projects including (but not limited to) stakeholder outreach, workshop planning, and database management. The Operations Intern/Fellow will also be required to coordinate with the H2DI Project Manager and the H2DI Analysis Team. EFI Foundation employees work from the D.C. office at least Tuesday through Thursday; due to the nature of this role, more in-person work will likely be required.

    Your Responsibilities Will Include:

    • Managing the Executive Director’s calendar, including scheduling meetings, creating agendas, preparing briefing books, and taking notes.
    • Booking travel and other logistics.
    • Special projects as needed, which may include workshop design, database management, or creating stakeholder outreach strategies.
    • Procuring office supplies, supporting in-office IT needs, and other office logistics.
    • Contributing to a positive and efficient office environment.

    General Time Breakdown:

    • Scheduling support: approximately 40%
    • Stakeholder outreach: approximately 25%
    • General Administrative Support: approximately 25%
    • Special Projects: approximately 10%

    What You’ll Need:

    • Bachelor's degree OR currently pursuing a degree with 1+ semesters completed
    • Preferred: 1-3 years’ experience in an office setting.
    • Preferred: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and videoconferencing systems including Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
    • Preferred: familiarity or experience with energy, climate, public policy, and government.
    • Required: Local to the Washington, D.C. metro area or willing to relocate.
    • Bonus: Familiarity with Salesforce, ContractWorks, GoCo, and JazzHR systems
    • U.S. citizenship or authorization to reside and work in the United States.
    • Proof of vaccination against COVID-19.
