    Description

    Key Responsibilities

    Veterinary Care & Rehabilitation Services

    • Provide veterinary care and rehabilitation services to our gibbons and domestic animals.
    • Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation plans for our gibbons, addressing their specific medical and behavioral needs.
    • Work closely with veterinary specialists and other experts to provide comprehensive care.
    • Monitor the health and progress of each individual gibbon, making adjustments to care plans as needed.

    Leadership of Rehabilitation Programs

    • Lead rehabilitation programs, ensuring the highest standards of care and welfare.
    • Oversee daily operations at Malaya/Borneo GReP, including feeding, enrichment, and medical treatment schedules.
    • Develop and implement protocols for the safe and effective rehabilitation and eventual release of wildlife.
    • Collaborate with the Rehabilitation Manager to continuously improve rehabilitation practices and outcomes.
    • Conduct field assessments and research to support conservation efforts.
    • Train and supervise staff and volunteers in animal care practices, assisting the Rehabilitation Manager.

    Field Assessments & Conservation Research

    • Conduct field assessments to identify potential sites for rehabilitation and release, ensuring they meet the necessary ecological and safety criteria.
    • Lead research initiatives aimed at improving rehabilitation techniques and understanding the needs of wildlife in their natural habitats.
    • Collaborate with conservationists and researchers to gather data that supports the organization’s broader conservation efforts.
    • Report findings and provide recommendations to the team and relevant stakeholders.

    Staff & Volunteer Training/Supervision

    • Train and supervise staff and volunteers in best practices for animal care, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed.
    • Provide ongoing mentorship and support to staff, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
    • Assist the Rehabilitation Manager in managing the team’s daily operations, including task delegation and performance evaluations.
    • Ensure all team members are adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a high standard of care.

    Eligibility

    • Open for Malaysians only.
    • Minimum of 1 year of experience in veterinary practice, preferably with wildlife.
    • Willingness to travel within Peninsular and Borneo Malaysia.
    • Strong leadership and management skills.
    • Open to learning from team members and able to work independently as well as in a team.
    • Commitment to animal welfare and conservation.
    • Possess excellent communication skills, a flexible and solution-oriented approach, and a willingness to learn from team members.
    • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
