    Making Caring Common (MCC) seeks a Development Coordinator to support our fundraising efforts. MCC, a project of the Harvard Graduate School of Education, is committed to making caring and a commitment to justice a priority in every home, school, and community.

    The Making Caring Common Development Coordinator will be a front-line fundraising professional with the opportunity to have tremendous impact. The Development Coordinator will support MCC’s fundraising goals across the organization, and their work will support and enhance MCC’s initiatives to 1) promote caring and justice in schools and families, 2) strive for reform in college admissions and in colleges that will promote caring and equity, and 3) conduct original research related to caring and justice. 

    The MCC Development Coordinator will support the MCC Faculty Director as he identifies and cultivates a portfolio of prospects capable of making leadership-level gifts to the organization; the coordinator will work with MCC project directors to support the development and coordination of grant applications; and will support other fundraising efforts on behalf of the organization. The Development Coordinator will also serve as the primary liaison to the MCC Advisory Board. 

    The Development Coordinator will report to MCC’s Faculty Director, and work closely with MCC Project Directors. The position is part-time and hourly, approximately 10-14 hours a week. Benefits are not available for this position. Location is flexible. $50/hr. Position can be remote or hybrid in our Cambridge, MA office.     Key Responsibilities

    • Liaise with donors and our Advisory Board members
    • Conduct research to discover new major gift and foundation prospects
    • Coordinate grant applications and donor proposals
    • Assist in writing proposals in collaboration with project directors
    • Assist in the development of regular development communication materials 
    • Work collaboratively with MCC project directors, Office of Sponsored Projects, and the Development and Alumni Relations Office at HGSE  
    • Other duties as requested or assigned

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • 2+ years of development experience
    • Prior experience coordinating grant applications
    • Prior experience writing development materials, including development communications, proposals, and/or grant applications, strongly preferred
    • A track record of obtaining grants and/or major gifts is strongly preferred
    • Ability to work very independently with key constituents while also being a strong team player
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Results-oriented with a high degree of initiative
    • Strong listening and relationship building skills
    • Comfort and facility with building remote relationships using virtual platforms
    • Passion for MCC’s mission
