Through rapid response messaging, issue advocacy and electoral mobilization, we are working across the U.S. to build community and political power for the long haul. We recruit, train and support grassroots community efforts year-round, giving them the room to sustain and grow their networks for the long haul.

    Position Overview: Our Regional Organizing Director (ROD) will help drive an ambitious program to build a base of grassroots and grassroots supporters to strategically maintain ongoing efforts for building momentum and strengthening relationships in communities of color to ensure civic engagement and capacity building. The Regional Organizing Director will be responsible for the hiring, training and management of canvassers to align base building with voter engagement, issue and advocacy campaigns. This position is expected to model and uphold the vision, mission and core values of the organization. This positions duration is ASAP- December.

    Location: We are looking for folks only in the following areas

    • Alabama: Tuskegee, Selma
    • North Carolina: Raleigh, Durham
    • Pennsylvania: Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, & Western PA
    • Michigan: Grand Rapids, Lansing, Kalamazoo

    Compensation: $5,000/Month

    Duration: Oct 1st -Dec 1st

    Responsibilities:

    • Managing a field office that includes securing office space, opening and closing the office, maintaining the office.
    • Ensuring community engagement in the development of planning and implementing of the office opening
    • Recruiting, interviewing and hiring canvassers and maintain a supportive team culture for them once on the team
    • Implement the organizing plan which will include direct voter contact and relational organizing tactics
    • Building and leading a robust team to include a volunteer base that focuses on deep canvassing, community engagement to meet the organizing goals.
    • Establishing and building coalition partners unique to the target area (civic organizations, community organizations, chapters and clubs) for increased community engagement.
    • Participate in local coalition spaces to assist in developing target-specific strategies to engage communities in investing and building power and establishing deep relationships with grassroots leaders.
    • Assessing and ensuring that the work in the field and internal organizing are actively happening and tracking systems are being maintained.
    • Participating in regular planning calls/meetings, providing guidance with partners, coordinating events and tracking daily goal metrics for voter turnout.

    Qualifications

    • We are seeking candidates who excel in building a community outreach strategy, are results-oriented and have strong management skills.
    • At least two cycles of field experience on issue or electoral campaigns, including at least one cycle managing canvassers.
    • Extensive experience with Votebuilder and Action Network.
    • Demonstrated experience in community engagement and motivating and holding paid canvassers accountable for achieving daily and weekly metrics.
    • Familiarity and comfort with working with people who demonstrate an interest in building connections and drive outcomes for the mutual benefit of the organization.
    • Familiarity with local and state organizing, political and issue advocacy campaigns or initiatives.
    • Strong leadership skills that inspire and motivate performance.
    • High energy, outgoing, enthusiastic and willing to work extensive productive hours.
    • Strong interpersonal, oral communication and listening skills.
    • Ability to problem solve effectively and creatively.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a passion for accuracy.
    • A self-starter and has the ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure.
    • Must be flexible and adaptable to unexpected changes that may include performing additional tasks as deemed necessary by the leadership team.
    • Participates in regular planning calls/meetings, and network on behalf of the organization
