    Description

    Summer on the Hill is seeking experienced elementary and middle school teachers to deliver interdisciplinary curriculum in Civics OR Engineering for its enrichment program on Saturdays this spring. Our in-person days are located on the campus of the Horace Mann School in the Riverdale area of The Bronx. Our bright and motivated students have been recruited from more than 80 local public schools. Our curriculum is project-based, hands-on and seeks to infuse students with life skills.

    Summer on the Hill’s mission is to enrich the education of promising, low-income public school students from the Bronx, Harlem, and Washington Heights, to prepare them for selective schools and colleges, and to offer guidance to their families. SOH is a year-round, supplemental enrichment program that has served more 1,000 promising students since 1994. Summer on the Hill is a 501(c)(3) organization that private foundations, corporations, and individual gifts support.  

    Available Positions:

    • 4th Grade Engineering (Topic: Climate Change & Homes)
    • 4th Grade Civics (Reading: One Crazy Summer)
    • 6th & 7th Grade Civics (Reading: Piecing Me Together & Ugly)
    • Curriculum and classroom materials will be provided*

    Dates: Saturdays

      • November 2, 2024
      • November 9, 2024
      • November 16, 2024
      • November 23, 2024
      • March 1, 2025
      • March 8, 2025
      • April 5, 2025
      • May 17, 2025
      • May 31, 2025

    Hours: In-person days 8:00am – 2:45pm

    Teacher Responsibilities include:

    • Preparing and delivering engaging, hands-on lessons on 5 Saturdays (see dates above) for bright, motivated students in grades 3-7
    • Keeping daily attendance using our online database
    • Preparing one-page academic reports for each of your students
    • Attending online faculty meetings during the school year
    • Curriculum and classroom materials will be provided
