    Description

    We are seeking dedicated Tutors to support justice-impacted individuals across a variety of programs including the Student Success Initiative, Navigator Certificate in Human Services and Community Justice, Pathways to GED, Career Pathways, and technology courses (Tech 101 and Tech 201). This role is perfect for individuals passionate about providing educational and empowerment opportunities to help reintegrate and uplift those who have been part of the criminal legal system, including college-level students pursuing degrees. Tutors will report to the Coordinator of Instructional Design.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide academic tutoring in subjects including human services, community justice, writing, general education diploma preparation, and technology (basic to advanced levels).
    • Develop and adapt learning materials to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students.
    • Work collaboratively with program coordinators and instructors to align tutoring methods with educational objectives and course content.
    • Monitor and report students' progress, providing feedback and strategies to enhance their educational outcomes.
    • Engage in professional development activities to maintain current knowledge of educational methodologies tailored to justice-impacted learners.
    • Encourage students to leverage their lived experiences in their learning processes.

    Qualifications:

    • College-level students or individuals with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
    • Experience in tutoring or teaching, particularly with adults, non-traditional, or college students.
    • Deep understanding of the challenges faced by justice-impacted individuals and dedication to culturally competent instruction.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to motivate and build rapport with students.
    • Proficiency in educational technology and online learning platforms.
    • Commitment to the evening schedule and potential weekend sessions as required.

    Program Specifics:

    • Navigator Certificate: Support courses combining human services theory with practical skills including social service navigation and professional ethics, mainly assisting with four papers that students are required to complete each semester.
    • Pathways to GED: Prepare students for General Education Development (GED) exams, requiring strong general education knowledge.
    • Tech Courses: Assist in courses ranging from basic technology use to specialized software training.
    • Student Success Initiative: Support justice-impacted students across all subject courses.

    Hours of Operation:

    • Availability required from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, with optional weekend sessions.
