Salary consideration is given for seniority, merit, quality, education, and experience. The salary (paid in equal 12-month installments) for a 10-month work period. This will be prorated over 12 months for the 24-25 school year based on the start date.

Position Overview

Unit field trips are important components of the Logan educational philosophy. Unit Field Trip Teachers work collaboratively with classroom teachers to provide hands-on, real-world experiences for each Logan student. 

Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the Unit Field Trip Teacher are to research and arrange appropriate field trips for each student to experience hands-on learning with a person or in an environment that relates directly to their unit of study. Along with these responsibilities, trip teachers:

  • Develop curricula and deliver instruction consistent with the school's mission and core values, standards of teaching excellence, and the aspirations of skillfulness detailed in the diversity & inclusion rubric.
  • Work collaboratively with Core teachers in support of the Class Unit.
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with experts in the community and keep and share a database with their contact names, numbers, and addresses with the school. 
  • Schedule trips with children and coordinate those trips with teachers and parents
  • Communicate with parents, teachers, and staff about when a child is going on a trip, what they need for that trip, and who they will be meeting with
  • Provide a safe environment for the child while outside of the school campus
  • Manage trip budgets
  • Manage student medications on trips 
  • Drive a bus or minivan for field trip transportation
  • Participate in meetings as requested
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with families.
  • Establish a website login and become familiar with the documents in the staff resources section of the Logan website, particularly the calendar function and the personnel policies, which apply to all Logan staff.
  • Attend mandatory trainings for child safety, universal precautions, medication delegation, CPR/First Aid, etc.
  • Communicate with core teachers regarding any concerns about a student, any schedule changes, and any other issues in which information will allow each teacher to meet the needs of the child better
  • Perform miscellaneous other duties as assigned by the Head of School
  • Attend monthly all-staff meetings, staff retreats, pre-service, and other professional days

Status

This is a full-time (10-month) position that spans the school year. Salary is paid over 12 months, August-July and this position receives full benefits.

Direct Supervisor: Associate Head of School

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to education
  • Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Mac and/or Windows computer-literate
  • Ability to drive a small school bus
  • Hold or be able to acquire medication delegation certification
  • Hold or be able to acquire CPR certification
  • Undergo and pass a background check, DMV check and drug screening test as requested.

Hours

  • The Logan School work day is 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday-Friday and an on-site position, except for the Unit trips
  • Required attendance at staff meetings that run typically until 5 pm
  • Occasional evening/weekend hours required for all school events
