    You will join our six-member finance and accounting team. We will match responsibilities to accommodate your experience. Duties will include: implementing HR policies and procedures; maintaining HRIS platform; leading hiring, orientation, and exit process; federal, state, and other reporting; and projects. Other responsibilities may be added as needed and as capacity or experience allows.

    This position is flexible in terms of FTE or duties for the right candidate, but we are looking for someone full-time. The salary for this position depends on experience, and the range is $90,000 to $100,000 for full-time. Employer-provided benefits include paid sick, vacation, holiday, and group insurance including medical, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability, and employer retirement plan contributions upon eligibility. 100% remote work is possible, but preference will be given to candidates who can work in the Bolinas office 1 day per week or 1 day per month.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Non-Payroll

    • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
    • Update, recommend, and implement human resource policies and procedures ensuring legal compliance
    • Communicate staffing changes in Slack channel
    • Guide new Rippling HRIS system for maximum benefit
    • Maintain Rippling HRIS system
    • Maintain job descriptions for all positions
    • Manage the day-to-day employee relations with guidance from Head of Finance
    • Give managers access to training and support to interview, coach, and discipline employees
    • New hire process and orientation
    • Manage exit process for staff
    • Manage benefit programs and compensation in compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies
    • Respond to employee and Program Director inquiries
    • Prepare and submit annual wage surveys
    • Act as the point of contact with insurance and insurance broker & follow up on any billing adjustments
    • Supervise the administration of the health, dental, vision, life, long-term disability, FSA, COBRA, and other benefits for new, existing, and exiting employees
    • Lead insurance and FSA open enrollment
    • Approve insurance invoices and note billing adjustments
    • Handle federal and state reporting
    • Handle all workers compensation issues and audits
    • Overall responsibility for Cal-OSHA compliance
    • Other various tasks as assigned – Due to the small nature of our operations, some tasks will fall outside HR

    Payroll

    • Process bi-weekly payroll in a timely manner and with high degree of accuracy
    • Process Rippling Time and Attendance system
    • Create payroll change notices and update payroll
    • Review and ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all payroll input and output
    • Process payroll deductions, including garnishments, 403b, and insurance premiums
    • Maintain vacation/sick accruals in Rippling
    • Respond to employee inquiries and requests regarding payroll matters
    • Ensure accuracy of overtime
    • Provide labor reports on a monthly basis and other payroll-related reports as requested

    Required Skills

    • Solid knowledge of typical office equipment, personal computers, networked environments, Windows, Microsoft Office Suite especially Word and Excel, GSuite especially Drive, Docs, and Sheets, Adobe Acrobat, mathematics, and English
    • At least 3 years working with accounting software and HRIS platforms
      • QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, and Rippling preferred
    • Attention to detail and accuracy
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
    • Team player with the ability to build cooperative working relationships
    • Problem identification, ability to analyze, confidence to ask questions or make recommendations
    • Ability to plan and organize with a strong ability to multitask    
    • Ability to work with multiple deadlines and frequent interruptions

    Preferred Skills / Knowledge

    • Strong commitment to helping programs impact the world for the better
    • Nonprofit experience
    • CRMs, e.g. Salesforce
    • Sage Intacct
    • Zoom, Slack, DocuSign, and Zed
    • 1099s and 1042-s

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • 3+ years experience as a Manager of Human Resources; hiring; benefits administration; payroll; performance management; communication processes; compensation and wage structures; supporting diversity; classifying employees; knowledge of employment law and regulations
    • Ability to maintain a high-level of confidentiality
    • Excellent organizational, writing, and listening skills
    • Common sense and empathy
    • Willingness to deal with difficult situations in a manner that wants good resolution for all parties
