Role Overview As the Program Manager at OWLS, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of youth development through our lacrosse-based programs. You will lead the facilitation and execution of our Junior Academy and Outreach programming, working directly with students, families, and school partners to create lasting impact. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for positive youth development, academic intervention, and social equity, who is eager to contribute to a mission-driven organization.

    Key Roles and Responsibilities

Junior Academy Program Leadership and Execution

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for 5th-8th grade Junior Academy participants, families, and school staff at a designated school site.
    • Lead the development and delivery of school day curricula, including academic guidance, social-emotional learning (SEL) interventions, and team-building activities.
    • Manage interscholastic boys and/or girls middle school teams through after-school practices, games, and off-site programming.
    • Coordinate and deliver enrichment curricula including academic workshops, college and career exploration programs, and cultural field trips for middle school Junior Academy participants.

    Student Transition and Support

    • Collaborate with the Academy Program Manager to ensure a smooth transition for Junior Academy middle school participants into the Academy Scholars high school program, and a college preparatory education.
    • Provide ongoing support for Academy Scholars (high school participants) in partnership with the Academy Program Manager.

    Outreach Program Management

    • Oversee the development and delivery of the Outreach Curriculum for 3rd-5th grade students at the assigned school site, ensuring it aligns with OWLS’ goals for student engagement and development.
    • Manage PE Outreach schedules, logistics, and relationships with school partners at a designated site and assist Outreach programming throughout the OWLS school partnership network.

    Impact and Operations Management

    • Collect and monitor student contact information and participation data for Outreach and Junior Academy programs.
    • Maintain a participation dashboard and execute program evaluations and surveys to measure impact.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor or Associate degree in youth development, education, social work, sports management, or a related field.
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in youth development, education, social work, or coaching, with at least 2 years in a program management or leadership role within an SBYD or similar nonprofit organization.
    • Strong understanding of sports-based youth development principles, including trauma-informed care, social-emotional learning (SEL), and positive youth development (PYD) frameworks.
    • Experience with data-driven program evaluation, including the design and implementation of surveys, impact assessments, and data collection tools to measure program effectiveness.
    • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Asana) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with the ability to manage program logistics, schedules, and reporting efficiently.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage partnerships with schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and student outcomes.
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the capacity to lead multiple projects and programs simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
    • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with experience working with underserved populations in urban settings.
    • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within the first three months of employment).
    • Lacrosse coaching experience and a deep understanding of the sport, with the ability to mentor and inspire students through athletic development.
