    Description

    The Membership Manager oversees all daily membership operations. This includes monitoring membership workflows, ensuring timely responses to member inquiries, and the execution of recruitment and retention campaigns. The manager will also help develop recruitment, retention, and engagement initiatives, including preparing and analyzing membership reports and industry data. 

    They play a pivotal role in enhancing the member experience by supporting related committees and projects aimed at increasing member engagement. This role will work closely with various committee leadership to develop initiatives that enhance member involvement and engagement through volunteer opportunities. Reporting to the Senior Director of Membership, Marketing & Communications, the Membership Manager will work in collaboration with the Senior Marketing Communications Manager and the Society Project Coordinator assisting in planning and execution of membership development and retention campaigns as well as volunteer programs and initiatives based on the Society’s strategic objectives.

    Key Responsibilities: 

    Membership Recruitment, Retention, & Engagement 

    • Assist the Senior Director of MMC in implementing the Membership Plan, supporting recruitment and retention strategies. 
    • Implement and manage membership campaigns to maintain elevated levels of member satisfaction and renewal, coordinating the annual dues process with the database manager. 
    • Manage member recruitment, with attention to executing strategies to attract new members from diverse backgrounds, focusing on inclusivity and broadening the society's reach. 
    • Identify and pursue potential membership growth opportunities through partnerships, events, and targeted outreach initiatives. 
    • Design and oversee member engagement programs, such as events, volunteer opportunities, and implement tactics to boost member engagement on the society's community platform. 
    • Represent the society at the association exhibit booth during the annual symposium and trade shows, actively promoting membership benefits and opportunities. 
    • Collaborate with the Senior Marketing Communications Manager to create compelling membership materials, including brochures, emails, and social media content, to effectively communicate membership benefits. 
    • Work in coordination with the Senior Marketing Communications Manager to develop annual membership renewal and retention campaigns 
    • Manage membership initiatives within established budgets and scopes of work, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with organizational goals.  

    Committee Management: 

    • Serve as the primary liaison to member related committees ensuring effective communication and support for their activities. 
    • Collaborate with committee chairs to set goals, develop projects, and track progress. 
    • Assist committees in identifying and implementing projects that align with the society's goals for member engagement and growth. 
    • Provides administrative support for committees. 
    • Assists committee chairs in setting up quarterly meetings, distribution of agenda and minutes. 

    Program Management: 

    Volunteer Program 

    • Implement and manage annual volunteer intake process, using the Higher Logic Volunteer Match platform. 
    • Work with appropriate staff and leadership to facilitate annual onboarding to ensure they are successful in their roles. 
    • Plan and implement formal and informal volunteer recognition activities to showappreciation for the contributions of volunteers to the organization. 

    Mentorship Program 

    • Oversee the newly established Mentorship Match Program using the Higher Logic Mentor Match platform, including the recruitment of both mentors and mentees to ensure a robust and diverse participation pool. 
    • Ensure adherence to program requirements, including the matching process, tracking mentorship relationships, and evaluating outcomes. 
    • Work closely with the mentorship committee and Senior Marketing Communications Manager to promote the program and support its initiatives, providing guidance and assistance to ensure program goals are met. 
    • Oversee the Small Groups mentorship program, supporting group leaders to foster meaningful mentorship connections. 
    • Develop and update resources and training materials for mentors and mentees to ensure a high-quality mentorship experience. 
    • Monitor the success of mentorship matches and small groups, gathering feedback to continuously improve the program. 

    Collaboration and Teamwork: 

    • Work closely with the team to ensure alignment and consistency. Foster a collaborative environment among committees and staff to support a unified approach to member and volunteer engagement. 
    • Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives that contribute to society's overall mission and objectives. 

    Reporting and Analytics: 

    • Track key metrics related to member engagement, membership growth, and retention. 
    • Prepare regular reports for senior management, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for improvement. 
    • Use data-driven insights to help refine strategies and tactics. 

    Other Duties

    This position may require occasional travel for meetings, conferences, and events.  

    Some evening or weekend work may be necessary to support committee meetings or events. 

    Qualifications 

    • Must reside in DC, MD, VA, FL
    • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related fiel
    • 3-5 years of experience in membership operations and management,  
    • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience with community platforms, email marketing tools, and Customer Relationship Management and Association Management Systems (experience with Higher Logic and Novi a plus)
    • Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams and with volunteer committees
    • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
    • Elevated level of organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently and take initiative in a remote setting
