    Description

    Established by Executive Director & Chief Curator Cheryl Haines in 2003, FOR-SITE is dedicated to creating, understanding, and presenting art about place. FOR-SITE’s exhibitions and commissions, artist residencies, and education programs are based on the belief that art can inspire fresh thinking and important dialogue about our natural and cultural environment.

    With an ambitious exhibition at a San Francisco site of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area in Summer 2025, FOR-SITE is seeking an experienced Exhibition Project Manager to support Chief Curator Cheryl Haines in realizing the project. 

    This is a full-time position starting immediately. The position can be renewed and consolidated with a long-term tenure.

    $60,000+/year based on experience + health and dental insurance.

    Time flexibility will be required for events during weekends and evenings.

    The Exhibition Project Manager liaises with all project team members and exhibition stakeholders and provides the chief curator with needed support and information.

    Exhibition Project Management Duties:

    • Support Chief Curator’s decision-making by providing detailed and accurate research 
    • Monitor and report on project advancement
    • Create, manage, and update shared project resources on FOR-SITE Google Drive
    • Coordinate project schedule in close relation with FOR-SITE Administrative Manager, on-site parks partners, and the installation crew
    • Prepare exhibition material and release it to artists, vendors, advisory and host committees, parks partners, volunteers, and others as needed
    • Source various vendors, and manage bidding processes
    • Represent FOR-SITE towards the artists, parks partners, installers, and vendors engaged in the project 
    • Participate in the exhibition production and make sure that the FOR-SITE Administrative Manager has all the information in their hands to handle necessary production tasks
    • Hands-on support during donor events, opening night event, public programs, and educational outreach

    Desired Qualifications

    • 3+ years of experience in project management, ideally in the arts or the creative industry 
    • Bachelor's degree required in one of the following fields: non-profit administration, arts administration, museum studies, public art, art history
    • Highly organized with a superior attention to detail; a creative thinker with strong problem-solving abilities
    • Competency with Mac OS, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Dropbox, database management, CRM, and the Adobe Suite. 
    • Excellent oral, written, and listening communication skills
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced work environment
    • Knowledge of contemporary art, artists, and institutions, both local and global is a significant plus

    Work Conditions

    FOR-SITE’s office is located at the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture campus in San Francisco. This is an in-person, office-based, full-time position. It may require some evening and weekend work.
