    About me too. International

me too. International is a convener, thought leader, and organizer in the global movement to end sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), grounded in Black feminist principles and survivor-led healing and action. Because of the viral #MeToo hashtag, a vital conversation about sexual violence has been thrust into global dialogue. What started as local grassroots work has expanded to reach a global community of survivors from all walks of life and helped to de-stigmatize the act of surviving by highlighting the breadth and impact of sexual violence worldwide. We strive for the realization of a more inclusive and safer world where SGBV is not just minimized but entirely eradicated.

    Position Summary

We seek a dynamic and experienced Senior Director of Development to join our team and lead our fundraising and development efforts to support and sustain our impactful work. The Senior Director of Development will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to advance me too. International's mission is to maintain and grow our financial stability. This role requires a strategic and innovative leader with a strong background in nonprofit development, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for the organization's mission.

This leadership position demands a solution-oriented individual who enjoys working as part of a team. This is the organization’s first senior position within the development function. As we grow, we are expanding the fundraising function beyond founder Tarana Burke. The Senior Director of Development must be someone who checks their ego at the virtual door and leans-in to relationship development with charisma and joy. We seek someone who has nurtured funder relationships and brings those to bear.

    Key Responsibilities

    Fundraising Strategy and Implementation:

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including foundation grants, corporate partnerships, sponsorships, major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, and special events
    • Identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors, corporate partners, and foundation grants to secure significant funding for the organization
    • Steer the development and implementation of innovative fundraising campaigns and initiatives to engage and inspire donors

    Donor Relationship Management:

    • Build strong relationships with existing and prospective donors, ensuring a personalized and donor-centered approach
    • Develop and implement stewardship strategies to acknowledge, recognize, and engage donors at all levels
    • Oversee donor communications, including newsletters, annual reports, and other materials, to keep donors informed and connected to the organization's work.

    Grant Writing and Management:

    • Lead the grant writing process, including researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and government agencies
    • Manage grant reporting requirements and ensure timely and accurate submission of reports to funders
    • Collaborate with program staff to develop compelling grant proposals that align with the organization's strategic goals and priorities.

    Special Events:

    • Plan and execute successful fundraising events, including galas, benefit concerts, and community engagement activities.
    • Oversee event logistics, including budget management, vendor coordination, and volunteer engagement.
    • Develop and implement event marketing and promotion strategies to maximize attendance and revenue.

    Development Operations:

    • Manage the development team, providing leadership, direction, and support to ensure high performance and professional growth.
    • Oversee the development and maintenance of donor databases and records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
    • Prepare regular reports for senior leadership and the board of directors on fundraising progress, challenges, and opportunities.

    Collaborative Leadership:

    • Collaborate with senior leadership and program staff to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals and priorities.
    • Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes to ensure the organization's long-term sustainability and growth.
    • Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and events to promote its mission and fundraising efforts.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, nonprofit management, social work, or a related field, with a Master’s degree preferred; or have extensive experience providing a similar educational grounding that can be described through the interview process
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in nonprofit development, with at least 5-7 years in a leadership role
    • Proven track record of successful fundraising, including major gifts, corporate partnerships, and grant writing
    • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
    • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills
    • Experience managing and mentoring a team
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Passion for me too. International's mission and values
