The Opportunity

We are seeking a full-time Development Associate to join our dynamic team in Baltimore. This pivotal role will be instrumental in advancing our mission by:

1.      Driving our grant strategy: You'll lead efforts to research, write, and submit grants,

expanding our funding sources and enabling us to reach more students.

2.      Building donor relationships: You'll help cultivate and maintain a portfolio of individual donors, playing a crucial role in sustaining and growing our programs.

3.      Supporting our growth: As we expand our impact in Baltimore, you'll be at the forefront of

our development efforts, directly contributing to our ability to serve more underrepresented students in STEM.

4.      Collaborating across teams: You'll work closely with our program staff to understand our

impact and translate that into compelling narratives for donors and grantors.

5.     Innovating our approach: We're looking for someone who can bring fresh ideas to our development strategies, helping us adapt and thrive in a changing philanthropic landscape.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Researching and sourcing applicable grants
  • Preparing materials, editing, and submitting grants
  • Collaborate with the CDCO and Regional Director(s)
  • Assist in development of organizational system to support grant writing and submission
  • Use Donor Perfect CRM system to track grant deadlines and reporting requirements
  • Research and maintain donor portfolio of 75 major gifts prospects
  • Prepare private and public acknowledgements to steward donors
  • Provide monthly reports that outline funding secured
  • Attend networking events to increase awareness of the organization
  • Collaborate with other team members on fundraising activities as needed

Measurable KPIs

  • Submit 2-4 grants per month
  • Meet with 2-4 individual donors per week
  • Attend a minimum of one networking event per month
  • Assist in management of annual org-wide events
  • Obtain a minimum of $50k in corporate sponsorships

Education, Experience and Other Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Undergraduate Degree required. In lieu of degree, relevant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 3 years of fundraising experience required, to include grant-writing, individuals and corporate gift experience
  • Communications and Marketing experience preferred
  • Mastery of MS Office Suite is required
  • CRM software experience is required. Donor Perfect experience a plus.
  • Personal and reliable transportation is required (networking events, donor meetings, etc.)

Compensation and Benefits

This position is an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated individual who is looking for

a well-rounded development position and mentoring by a seasoned development

professional. Salary range is $55-$60k, commensurate with candidate experience.

Benefits include healthcare paid at 75%, Paid Time Off of 15 days plus the week between Christmas and New Years, 9 Paid Holidays, 3 Paid Sick Days,  Simple IRA with 3% match, Paid Professional Development.
