    Employment Type: Part-Time, Temporary (30 hours per week, will require a flexible schedule including weekends & evenings)

    Location: Miami, FL–Hybrid (both remote Virtual and In-Person hours required on a weekly basis)

    Salary: $22/hour (negotiable based on experience) 

    Reports to: Executive Director

    Miami Freedom Project is a non-profit 501(c)4 committed to transforming Miami-Dade’s political culture through outreach, movement building, and communication strategies while boldly advocating for climate, economic, health, housing, immigrant, and racial justice. We work to create an enduring, community-driven power base in Florida by identifying the next generation of intellectual, cultural and spiritual leaders willing to change the narrative of what it means to be progressive in Miami.

    Position Overview:

    Over the course of the engagement period (September-November 2024), Miami Freedom Project  is seeking a part-time relational organizer to engage and empower Miamians in the upcoming general election. The ideal candidate will have experience in community organizing, volunteer coordination, emotional intelligence, fluency in multiple ethnic communities, a passion for leadership development, and ability to inspire. The organizer will also be responsible for implementing a comprehensive voter engagement program that includes voter education, voter registration, get-out-the-vote efforts, and other related activities. 

    Organizer should demonstrate a keen ability to motivate volunteers and invite grassroots leaders to engage friends and family and through collective action for social change. Organizer will build intentional relationships with key community members and identify interests and challenges to building a relational network of community volunteers at scale. An amazing opportunity to build capacity through the power of community by deploying new and innovative organizing strategies.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Identify, recruit and support volunteer leaders based on field priorities.
    • Coordinate events that connect with voters in a meaningful way and grow our team of core volunteers and supporters.
    • Provide training and development to volunteer leaders to execute successful relational organizing programs in target areas.
    • Develop and conduct effective community organizing 1:1s, team building, mobilization, storytelling and other organizing strategies including digital organizing.
    • Develop relationships with partners and aligned organizations to achieve programmatic goals.
    • Manage and hold accountable volunteers to develop an engaged supporter base.
    • Door-to-door canvassing, text/phone banking, tabling.
    • Implement digital and relational organizing tactics, including virtual voter contact events.
    • Support in-person action such as office events, house meetings, canvasses, phone banks, letter writing, themed messaging events, and high traffic canvassing.
    • Track, follow up, and coach volunteers who engage online to collect feedback on interactions, comments, and conversations.

    Qualifications and Experience:  

    • Working knowledge of voter engagement strategies , including construction of contact universes, reports, VAN administration, voter file. 
    • Knowledge of relational organizing tools are a plus.
    • Bilingual English/Spanish (written and oral) skills are necessary especially around content creation, script writing, reporting.  

    Desired Skills – applicants should have the following: 

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Basic understanding of Miami politics, life and culture
    • Local ties and experience organizing core communities is a plus.
    • Strong attention to detail. Ability to be flexible and be able to adapt with changes.
    • Flexible, adaptable and solutions-oriented.
    • Must have access to a cell phone, vehicle and ability to relocate if necessary.
    • Bi-lingual in Spanish/English
