    Description

    The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) is the national membership organization for the nation’s federally qualified health centers (also known as FQHCs or Community Health Centers). Health centers are nonprofit, community-directed health clinics that provide access to high-quality, culturally competent, and comprehensive care to people living in medically underserved areas. NACHC strengthens the health center movement through advocacy, training, and technical assistance, clinical and operations support.     The Federal Affairs Specialist works closely with the Director of Federal Affairs and provides program management and policy support for the NACHC State Policy Team. The Specialist will be responsible for managing policy resource development and communication with NACHC members and stakeholders. This position has the opportunity to work on a broad range of federal affairs issues. 

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 

    1. Provides administrative and program management support to the federal affairs team. 
    2. Manages federal affairs inbox and responds to member inquiries.  
    3. Responsible for compiling and organizing weekly newsletters.  
    4. Draft email communications to support the team’s projects and events.  
    5. Oversees logistics and coordination for federal affairs team’s webinars and presentations.  
    6. Develop resources like issue briefs, factsheets, and blogs to educate health centers, PCAs, and HCCNs. 
    7. Track federal legislation and emerging federal policy issues. 
    8. Familiar with legislative tracking and research platforms. 
    9. Support research into emerging federal issue areas. 
    10. Manage coordination and collaboration with primary care associations on federal legislation. 
    11. 10-15% of travel per year.

    PROFESSIONAL/TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES 

    1. Familiar with health policy and health equity.  
    2. Familiar with tracking federal legislation and Congressional politics. 
    3. Superior multitasking skills. 
    4. Superior organizational skills.  

    LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS  

    1. Bachelor’s degree in public policy, public health, or a related field, with at least 2-3 years of professional experience. 

    TECHNICAL SKILLS 

    COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS 

    1. Experience creating and delivering substantive presentations.  
    2. Comfortable with public speaking virtually and in person.  

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is performed in a typical office environment. 

    Salary Range:

    57,000 - 59,740
