Scope of the Position  

Under the supervision of the Director of Development and Communications, the Development Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Development team in all fundraising and communications operations at LSH. The Development Coordinator will be a key member of the Development team and will work closely with the Director of Development to complete administrative, organizational, and communication tasks for the development team, and the agency. The Development Coordinator will assist with copy writing, relationship management, fundraising and special events, and promoting efficient and collaborative procedures and policies for Development operations. The position requires extraordinary attention to detail, ability to adapt quickly to various tasks, and a commitment to serving LSH’s mission and goals.  

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain a high functioning database (Donor Perfect) for development activities. This includes receiving, organizing, and processing all gifts, as well as creating and pulling reports
  • Generate timely and accurate donation acknowledgements, thank you letters, and tax receipts for individual and institutional donors
  • Help steward all current donors by preparing donor reports, coordinating meetings, and preparing personalized mailings 
  • Assist with the execution of all special events including communications, organizing event details, day-of logistics, and being onsite for events
  • Assist with editing departmental and agency related collateral as needed, including print and social media
  • Help with agency communications including maintenance of the agency website (WordPress) and e-newsletter templates (MailChimp)
  • Ensure agency branded print collateral and materials are ordered and stocked as needed
  • Prepare agency mailings, including pulling accurate mailing lists and communicating with printers and mail houses
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications 

  • Meticulous attention to detail 
  • Outstanding organizational skills 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to initiate, build trust, and maintain positive relationships internally and externally
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 
  • Be able and willing to work a flexible schedule that will include some evenings and weekends  
  • A base knowledge of common fundraising and communication practices preferred 
  • We use Donor Perfect, Word Press, MailChimp, and Canva. Familiarity with these databases and programs is preferred, and the ability to learn new technologies is required
