    Job Summary: Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Organizational Communications Specialist plays a key role in shaping TNP’s messaging, brand awareness, and audience growth. The role will work closely with all departments, with its deepest collaboration within the Development and Publicity Departments. 

    Responsibilities 

    Institutional Communications Strategy and Workplan: Contribute to and implement the institutional communications strategy and annual workplan, led by the Chief Development Officer, including goals, roles, responsibilities, and deadlines, with input and buy-in from all relevant departments and organizational functions. 

    • Engagement Strategy: Implement a comprehensive audience engagement strategy across all channels (social media, email, website) that serves the organization’s fundraising and related objectives. 
    • Content Strategy and Development: Collaboratively manages a workflow for content in support of the organization’s development engagement, messaging, positioning, and marketing needs. 
    • Content Production: write original content for a variety of contexts and audiences: social media, digital engagement, email communications, public relations, website copy, blog, donor solicitations, etc. 
    • Social Media Management: Help develop and implement a community-building strategy to strengthen relationships, enhance engagement metrics, and grow the number of followers on TNP properties. 
    • Development and Marketing Collateral: Oversee the production of key collateral, both print and digital (annual reports, impact statements, event promotion, branding materials, media kits, etc.) 
    • Analytics & Audience Engagement: Track and report on metrics for assessing and improving engagement efforts. 
    • Website Redesign: Support the later stages of a redesign and launch of The New Press’s website, liaising with our project manager and web developer.

    Required Skills/Experience 

    • Experienced communications professional with substantial nonprofit communications/branding experience in a social justice or policy setting. 
    • Clear track record creating compelling communications materials, digital storytelling, email content, and social media content. 
    • Track record of success with established, new, and emerging social media platforms; managing and growing social media communities, properties; and designing and implementing nonprofit marketing campaigns, especially as these relate to fundraising. 
    • Excellent writing skills and an ability to synthesize complex information into digestible, marketable content. 
    • Ability to manage multiple work projects; comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. 
    • Strong self-starter and self-organizer; strong organizational skills and relentless attention to detail. 
    • Ability to navigate different team environments; enjoys collaborative work. 
    • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion; ability to connect with people from all backgrounds. 
    • Video editing, graphic design skills and familiarity with range of graphic design software preferred. 
    • Familiarity with MailChimp, Hootsuite, Raisers Edge, Google Analytics, WordPress, and video software preferred.
