    Description

    The Association of Clinicians for the Underserved (ACU) leads several initiatives to increase access to care, address healthcare needs, and share best practices for delivering care to underserved populations. The Associate Director of Workforce Development serves as an integral part of leadership for ACU’s Solutions, Training, and Assistance for Recruitment and Retention (STAR2) Center program—a National Training and Technical Assistance Partner (NTTAP) of the Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC).

    Provide Direction and Support for the STAR2 Center

    The Associate Director of Workforce Development will contribute to the work of ACU’s STAR2 Center, which provides resources, training, and technical assistance to help Health Center Program grantees with their clinician workforce challenges and questions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Design and deliver in-person and web-based presentations, trainings, and learning collaboratives in conjunction with the STAR2 Center Director of Workforce Development and Training Specialist   
    • Contribute to the development and timely submission of the STAR2 Center grant reporting requirements including the project work plan, publication plan, progress reports, and project narrative
    • Monitor the progress of work plan deliverables to ensure all projects are completed on time and within budget In conjunction with the Director of Workforce Development, lead planning and strategy meetings to design project deliverables and yearly project work plans
    • Prepare for and support facilitation of the triennial BPHC Site Visit process
    • Manage, develop, and design training and technical assistance resources including publications, self-assessments, podcast episodes, eLearning courses, etc.
    •       Oversee and provide direct technical assistance to key stakeholders at health centers, Primary Care Associations (PCAs), and Health Center Controlled Networks (HCCN) to advance workforce recruitment and retention efforts
    • Collaborate with state and national partners on STAR2 Center projects and deliverables  
    • Develop and maintain partnerships with organizations and subject matter experts to advance the work of the STAR2 Center  
    • Represent ACU and the STAR2 Center on project calls, in-person and virtual meetings, committees, and other workforce-related activities
    • Support the development and delivery of workforce training and technical assistance activities, such as the biennial Workforce Symposium and Workshop
    • Assist the Associate Director of Operations and Compliance with the design and implementation of evaluation and data collection efforts
    • Assist the Associate Director of Operations and Compliance with maintaining the STAR2 Center’s online platforms including the project website and learning management systems
    • In conjunction with all STAR2 Center staff, update and develop ongoing improvements to the program’s internal operations and project management systems
    • Assist with other projects, as necessary

    Support Other ACU Programs and Initiatives as needed

    As a member of the ACU team, support may be needed to carry out activities relating to work outside the STAR2 Center. Other tasks include, but are not limited to:

    • Providing feedback/support to other ACU programs
    • Participating in various meetings relating to the ACU Annual Conference and strategic planning
    • Supporting the ACU Annual Conference on a virtual or in-person basis

    Position Requirements

    • 5-10 years of experience, including project management, virtual and in-person training design/delivery, and federal grant management
    •    Familiarity with workforce recruitment and retention, especially in the field of healthcare
    • Training facilitation expertise   
    • Familiarity with Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Health Center Program
    • Experience with Microsoft, Google Suite platforms, and virtual platforms such as Zoom   
    • Support for justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) principles and desire to improve healthcare access for the underserved
    • Strong team collaboration and interpersonal skills

    •     Travel for meetings and conferences, up to 25%
